What is unique about the Sonicare Elite?
Sonicare’s revolutionary, patented technology is the big
difference. The outstanding reach of the brush head, supported by
the wide sweeping motion and dynamic fluid activity, provide
excellent ease and effectiveness of cleaning.
What is the clinical proof behind Sonicare’s efficacy?
Our claims are based on sound scientific research on Sonicare
Elite and previous Sonicare models, conducted at clinical sites or
in cooperation with leading research institutes. Findings have
appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as The American Journal of
Dentistry, and new results will be announced in similar publications
or at major dental research meetings. Read existing Research

What is ‘plaque biofilm’?
In the past, dental plaque was studied by looking at its
‘components’ – the individual micro-organisms that together make up
plaque. A biofilm is composed of millions of interacting
micro-organisms. Research now indicates that microbes exhibit
properties in biofilms that they do not as separate, isolated
entities. Microbe interaction seems to make biofilms more difficult
to remove, less susceptible to anti-microbial agents and, therefore,
more likely to cause infection.
What is the difference between the Sonicare Elite e5000 and
e7000 series?
The Sonicare Elite e7000 series is ideal if you’re looking for
more brushing comfort and extra luxury features. The Elite 7000
series models have a slimmer handle with added soft grip, making
them just that little bit more comfortable and easier to hold and
manoeuvre than the Sonicare Elite e5000 series models. The Sonicare
e5000 series offers the same patented sonic technology and clinical
results and has the same brush head as the e7000 series, but fewer
extras.
How do I clean the Sonicare?
Rinse the head and bristles after each use. On a weekly basis,
clean the handle and the brush head (including under the nut) using
mild soap, water and a moist clean cloth. Clean the charger base
periodically. Always be sure to unplug the unit first.
How often should Sonicare brush heads be replaced?
The brush head should be replaced at least every six months
(every 4 months if it is used by someone with braces).
If I program the Sonicare for 2.5-minute brushing sessions,
how many brushings will I get on a full charge?
The total amount of time does not change: the charged Sonicare
Elite provides 56 minutes worth of brushing. You get either 22
2.5-minute brushings or 28 2-minute brushings.
Why does the Sonicare Elite have high and low power options?
The new dual speed control allows patients to set the brush speed
to meet their specific needs. This feature improves personal comfort
for, among others, periodontal post-surgery patients, patients who
have recently had implants, those who have had scaling & root
planning and orthodontic patients who have had their arch wire
tightened.
